Yesterday I worked on Paul Reiser’s new show, The Paul Reiser Show. I know. Anyway, I was in the background playing a patient in the waiting room of a dentist’s office, and my job was to sit there and flip through an old Elle Magazine they gave me as a prop. I know.
So I really hope I didn’t ruin the shot with my facial expression upon seeing the photo on page 114. Tumblr, don’t we know that sad girl in that stock photo staring woefully down at that plate full of poorly-Photoshopped contraceptives? That is who I think it is, isn’t it?
G.P.O.Y.I can explain…
When I lived in New York, I worked as an assistant to a pretty hot shot Stock Photographer. This job entailed me buying wardrobe, setting up lights, modeling and then taking down the set. It was a great gig because I learned a lot and got compensated for doing all of these separate positions — photographer’s assistant, stylist and model. I can’t really complain, but oh! how I cringe when these ridiculous photos pop up. I guess they could have photoshopped worse/more hilarious things onto the plate.
Moral of the story: Be safe. Don’t do stock photography modeling.
